Even if you are not entirely on board with the cliché, typical Valentine’s Day plans (i.e. teddy bears, roses, awkward poems…) you CANNOT deny that this day is a fabulous excuse for an ‘all out’ dinner for you and your partner.

Here’s a thought though… instead of joining the throng of other couples out for dinner this Valentine’s Day, why not make staying in the new going out?? There is a tonne of pressure attached to a big meal out on Valentine’s Day: the multi-course pre-fixe menus, overpriced flowers and the sheer volume of people you are dining with…. it’s just not our ideal of a perfect romantic experience.

Cook a beautiful dinner for you and your special ‘other’. It does not have to be difficult or extravagantly expensive, it just has to be lip-smackingly YUMMY. Sharing food with loved ones is such a special thing to do and what day better to do it on than Valentine’s Day?? As previously said, this day is an excuse, really, to bust out a few of the special occasion recipes you’ve been wanting to try.

Here are some ideas below:

Warwickshire Whizzer sausages and Mash, Seasonal greens, jus

Roasted lamb, courgettes, aubergines, peas, spiced jus

Free range chicken, crispy leg, asparagus, BBQ sweetcorn

Sticky toffee pudding, salted caramel, toffee apples, walnuts, clotted cream (n)

Eton Mess, textures of raspberry, elderflower cream
